About Us

The International Hyperbaric Medical Foundation is a [501 (c) 3] registered corporation.

IHMF was founded in 2003 with the goal of implementing the translation of the extensive body of hyperbaric scientific literature into routine clinical practice.

Sponsoring and endorsing education to certify medical professionals in the safety aspects and procedures required for clinical operations is an important goal to improve availability and access to treatment.

The historic failure to apply sound hyperbaric medical practices to routine medical problems is costing our society and our medical system untold billions of dollars. Furthermore, untold suffering and unnecessary personal tragedies have resulted. Hyperbaric medicine has repeatedly demonstrated it could cost-effectively improve patient outcomes. These solutions range from routine treatment to prevent amputations, treatment of burns and frostbite, improvement in surgical procedural outcomes and preventing disability or improving a life challenged by brain insult. Yet, even for the 14 FDA-approved indications, patients seldom receive treatment. In these indications, hyperbaric medicine treats numerous fundamental biological processes caused when tissues lack oxygen. Many kinds of infection can be resolved through application of abundant amounts of oxygen. Simply stated, sufficient oxygen is necessary for routine wound healing and optimized oxygen maximizes wound healing.

IHMF sponsored a seminar in 2012 that was an impressive assembly of speakers and hyperbaric professionals to further the stated goals.
